Sizing guide
Understanding Jewellery Measurements:
→ 0.5 cm (5 mm): ~pencil eraser - very delicate and petite
→ 1.0 cm (10 mm): ~small pea — subtle and elegant
→ 1.5 cm (15 mm): ~small button — noticeable but refined
→ 2.0 cm (20 mm): ~5-cent coin — statement piece
→ 2.5 cm+ (25 mm+): larger than a 10-cent coin — bold and eye-catching
How to Measure Your Current Jewellery:
- Use a ruler with millimetre markings or a soft measuring tape
- For earrings: measure from top to bottom (total drop length)
- For pendants: measure the pendant itself, not including the chain
- For rings: measure the width of the band at its widest point
- Compare these measurements to our product specifications
Everyday care
- Put jewellery on after hair, makeup & fragrance
- Remove before water, sweat, cleaning, gardening and bed
- Wipe with a soft dry cloth after each wear to remove oils
Cleaning at home
Freshwater Pearls
- Lightly dampen a soft cloth with clean water; wipe each pearl
- If needed, a tiny drop of mild dish soap on the cloth; wipe again with clean water
- Dry on a soft towel; let strands lie flat until fully dry
- Never soak; avoid ultrasonic/steam/chemical dips
Sterling Silver (925)
- Use a silver‑polishing cloth to remove tarnish
- For grime: mild dish soap in lukewarm water, soft brush for crevices, rinse, dry completely
- Avoid toothpaste, paper towels, or abrasives
Moissanite & diamond
- Soak briefly in lukewarm water with a drop of mild dish soap.
- Gently brush behind the stones; rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Avoid chlorine and harsh solvents.
- Ultrasonic/steam: only for sturdy, unplated settings and stones not glue-set.
Cubic zirconia (CZ)
- Clean like moissanite/diamond (mild soap + soft brush; rinse, dry).
- Avoid ultrasonic/steam on glue-set designs or where plating is present.
Stainless Steel & Stainless Steel Inlay (incl. PVD/IP‑plated)
- Wash with mild soap and water; dry fully to prevent water spots
- Polish with a microfiber/jewellery cloth
- Avoid bleach/chlorine and harsh abrasives
- For inlays (shell, wood, carbon fibre, resin): do not soak; wipe lightly; avoid impact and high heat
Gemstones
- Hard stones (e.g., quartz, amethyst, topaz, sapphire, ruby): mild soap + soft brush, rinse, dry
- Soft/porous stones (e.g., opal, turquoise, malachite, lapis, pearl, coral, amber, emerald‑oiled): no soaking, no ultrasonic/steam, avoid acids/solvents; wipe gently with a damp cloth and dry
- Keep all gemstones away from sudden temperature changes and harsh chemicals
Enamel
- Wipe gently with a damp, soft cloth; dry well
- Avoid abrasives, solvents, perfume on the surface, and impacts/heat shock
- Do not use ultrasonic/steam
Mixed Pieces (Pearls/Gemstones + Silver)
- Clean following the most delicate material (e.g., pearls)
- Spot‑polish only the metal parts with a silver cloth
- Avoid all "silver dips" and harsh solutions
Storage
- Pearls: Soft pouch or lined box with airflow; avoid long‑term airtight storage. Keep away from heat/direct sun. Restring periodically if worn often
- Sterling Silver: Airtight zip bag/box with anti‑tarnish tab; store individually to prevent scratches
- Stainless Steel: Store dry; separate to avoid scuffs; for plated, wrap to minimise friction
- Gemstones: Keep away from chemicals and prolonged sun/heat (can fade some stones)
- Enamel: Separate to avoid chips; avoid hard knocks
Seasonal care tips
Summer Care
- Remove jewellery before swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater
- Apply sunscreen and let it absorb before putting on jewellery
- Sweat can accelerate tarnishing - wipe pieces clean after outdoor activities
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Beach tip: Leave precious pieces at home or in your hotel safe
Winter Care
- Dry indoor air can affect pearls - consider a small humidifier in your jewellery storage area
- Remove jewellery before applying hand cream or moisturiser
- Cold temperatures can make metal brittle - avoid impacts in freezing weather
- Salt from winter roads can damage jewellery - clean promptly if exposed
- Layer jewellery over clothing to avoid contact with winter fabrics that may snag
Travel tips
- Packing: Use a jewellery roll or small pouches to keep pieces separated and prevent tangling
- TSA-Friendly: Keep jewellery in your carry-on luggage; never check valuable pieces
- Hotel Safety: Use the room safe for storage when not wearing your jewellery
- Quick Cleaning: Pack a small microfiber cloth for on-the-go polishing
- Insurance: Consider photographing your jewellery and keeping receipts for travel insurance purposes
- Airport Security: You can wear most jewellery through security, but be prepared to remove larger metal pieces
Allergy & skin sensitivity information
Hypoallergenic Materials:
- Sterling Silver (925): Generally hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin
- Stainless Steel: Excellent for sensitive skin; nickel content is tightly bound and rarely causes reactions
- Platinum/Gold (if applicable): Highly hypoallergenic options
If You Experience Irritation:
- Remove the jewellery immediately and clean the affected area
- Clean the jewellery thoroughly - sometimes buildup causes irritation, not the metal itself
- Apply a thin coat of clear nail polish to metal parts that touch skin (temporary solution)
- If irritation persists, you may have a sensitivity to that particular metal
- Contact us for recommendations on alternative materials
Nickel-Free Options: All our sterling silver and stainless steel pieces are nickel-free or have minimal nickel content that's safely bound within the alloy.
Your jewellery may need professional attention if:
- Pearls: The string feels loose, frayed, or if pearls move freely between knots (restring every 1-2 years with regular wear)
- Stone Settings: Stones feel loose, prongs appear bent or worn, or you notice gaps around the stone
- Clasps: Difficulty opening/closing, or clasps don't hold securely
- Heavy Tarnish: Silver pieces with stubborn tarnish that won't respond to home cleaning
- Damage: Bent metal, broken chains, or missing stones
- Deep Cleaning: Annual professional cleaning recommended for frequently worn pieces

Frequently asked questions
How often should I clean my jewellery?
Wipe pieces with a soft cloth after each wear. Deep clean sterling silver monthly, or when you notice tarnish. Clean gemstone pieces every 2-3 months with regular wear.
Can I shower with my jewellery?
We recommend removing all jewellery before showering. Soap residue, shampoo, and hard water can dull finishes and damage delicate materials like pearls.
How do I prevent tarnishing?
Store sterling silver in airtight bags with anti-tarnish strips, keep away from moisture and humidity, remove before swimming or exercising, and wipe clean after each wear.
Can I wear my jewellery while exercising?
It's best to remove jewellery during exercise. Sweat accelerates tarnishing and can damage certain materials. Impact during activities may also cause damage.
Is it safe to sleep in my jewellery?
We recommend removing jewellery before bed to prevent tangling, breakage, and skin irritation. It also helps preserve the finish and prevents accidental damage.
How do I know if my jewellery is real sterling silver?
All our sterling silver pieces are stamped with "925" indicating 92.5% pure silver. You can usually find this stamp on clasps, inside rings, or on the back of pendants.
Will my jewellery turn my skin green?
Genuine sterling silver (925) should not turn your skin green. If this occurs, it may be due to a reaction with lotions, perfumes, or body chemistry. Clean the jewellery and your skin, and ensure you're applying products before putting on jewellery.
Can I resize my ring?
Contact us at hello@jewelradiance.store to discuss resizing options. Some designs can be resized, while others cannot due to their construction.
Materials guide
- Freshwater Pearls: Organic gems; sensitive to acids, alcohol and dryness. Love gentle wear and humidity
- Sterling Silver (925): Precious metal that naturally tarnishes; refresh with a silver cloth and dry storage
- Moissanite: Brilliant, durable lab‑grown gemstone; cleans easily with mild soap and soft brush
- Diamond: Most durable natural gemstone; responds well to mild soap cleaning; still avoid harsh chemicals
- Zircon (Cubic Zirconia): Durable man‑made gem; care like diamond/moissanite; avoid strong chemicals/ultrasonic for glued or plated items
- Stainless Steel / PVD/IP plated: Hard‑wearing; plating lasts longer when kept away from abrasion and chemicals
- Gemstones (varied): Treat based on hardness/porosity; when unsure, use only mild soap + water and a soft cloth
- Enamel: Glass‑like coating over metal; avoid impacts, extremes of temperature and abrasion
